Frozen Honeydew Margarita Recipe
A refreshing mid day or evening drink, this is ideal for summer time and has a cooling effect. The subtle taste of the honey dew melon combined with the lime juice gives it a wonderful tang and seems to bring down the temperatures in the atmosphere around you and transport you into another world. Take a sip, close your eyes and get transported to a beach resort.
The honey dew melon should be picked carefully and be ripe yet not too soft or over ripe. A honey dew melon which is of a good quality will be of a creamy yellow tint. Good-quality Honeydew melons will turn a creamy yellow tint with the skin being waxy to the touch once it is ripe. The fruit should be firm but once it is ripe it will be soft near the stem. For the best flavor select one which is around 5 pounds in weight. This fruit has no fat content or cholesterol in it, but is rich in sodium and dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, iron, calcium and a touch of protein. The natural sugar content adds to the flavor and provides energy.
Ingredients for a frozen honey dew margarita to serve 4:
• A medium size honeydew melon (3 ½ cups of cubes)
• 2 ½ table spoons of sugar
• 1/3 cup of fresh lime juice
• ¾ cup white tequila
Method of making the margarita:
Peel the melon and cut into cubes for the required quantity. The cubes should be put into an airtight plastic bag and frozen for a few hours. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into margarita glasses which have been prepared with salted rims.
