Frozen Cactus Pear Margarita Recipe
The trendiest margarita in town is the cactus pear margarita. This drink was put together to cool people down during the sultry days and also to make them feel good and relaxed. Like all the margaritas which have a fruit to add that extra zing to the flavor this is another one to add to the list. These can be savored frozen, on the rocks, straight, salted or just plain. The prickly pear is one of the most popular fruits in Mexico and other south western regions.
The ingredients required to make a cactus pear margarita:
• Lime
• Coarse salt
• Crushed ice
• Fresh lime juice
• Cactus pear juice
• Orange liqueur
• White tequila
Quantities for a single drink of margarita:
• 1 lime wedge for garnishing
• Coarse salt to coat the glass rim
• ¼ cup of crushed ice
• ¼ ounce of fresh lime juice
• ½ ounce of cactus pear juice
• ½ ounce orange liqueur
• 1 ounce of white tequila
Method of making this popular drink:
Put the crushed ice, lime juice, cactus pear juice, orange liqueur and tequila in a blender and process until the liquid is smooth. To prepare the margarita glasses dip the rim in the juice or slice a lime and run it over the rim of the glass. This is just to wet the rim to hold the coarse salt. Now put the rim of the glass on the coarse salt which could be kept on a paper or plate and then pour the liquid into it. Decorate the rim with a wedge of lime. This should be done for all the glasses before pouring the margaritas into them.
